Artists will often "remix" works. What so I mean by the term? They will take aspects of one piece and work it into a different piece. They may return to an older piece, reworking it by painting over part or all of it. They may recycle ideas. Occasionally, an artist may even paint almost exactly the same piece, altered just slightly. Da Vinci certainly did. For today, let's consider him, and return to the remix theme another day, as he returned to this subject.

Lots of theories exist to answer the question: "Why two paintings?" Finding the sometimes subtle difference between the two can take longer than you may think.
