How to avoid overworking a drawing while trying to improve it? Artists make this mistake all the time, to our frustration. We have a good beginning of a drawing. Then, we work on it some more. Usually, we destroy the spontaneity of the initial effort. My greatest challenge may be how to maintain the freshness of a piece while developing it further. One advantage of the iPad is the ability to save at different stages. I can work further on the drawing, without losing the beginning version.
To the left, see the first ten minutes of a drawing of Taheerah. Below, see the finished version. Alas, I like the first version better. But, it still exists! One great advantage of working with the iPad.
